Banteng
The Banteng is not a breed of cattle, but a distinct species. Despite a cattle-like appearance, the Banteng is as genetically remote from cattle as is the bison. It is a species of wild cattle found in SE Aisa. This handsome, exotic animal is extremely elusive and alert, and is a supreme challenge to the hunter. It is very rare in there native home lands of Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, and the only place a hunter can legally harvest one is in Australia, and the coutry is limited to 15 permits a year, or on a managed hunt ranch like Silvertine.
A Banteng hunt is one of the most distinctive and unusual hunts in the world. They range in colour from light blond to dark red, and have large horns. They love the swamps and dark forested areas of the Silvertine preserve. We have a very small herd of Banteng that we are breeding. We strive to maintain a Pure herd, and have, but also as a sideline we have some Banteng that are 50-75%, as we have breed other related breeds of cattle into our herd for genetic diversity, vigor, and health of our animals, as well to supply those hunters that can not afford the "Pure" price tag, but still want a Banteng Hunt. There are very few Banteng in North America, namely Canada.
